For those of you Chromecast users that plug this device into your TV, you’ll be happy to know you can install Kodi on Chromecast as well. In this article, we’ll go over how to download Kodi on Chrome cast using a laptop or desktop PC as well as an android device.
Method 1: Use Laptop or Desktop PC to download Kodi on Chromecast
Whether you have a Mac or Windows computer, you can follow this guide to downloading Kodi on Chromecast. Before starting, you need to double-check that you have the latest version of Kodi downloaded on that device along with the latest Google Chrome version. You may also want to download the Chromecast extension just in case.
Step 1: Open your chrome browser on your computer
Step 2: Click on the three dots at the top right-hand corner. Scroll down and click on the cast option. Then click on the option that says cast screen from the window.
Step 3: From there you will see a window that asks where you would like the cast tab. Select the option that says Cast entire screen.
That’s it! Now you’re able to stream Chromecast to your television. You just have to open Kodi on your computer and it’ll work with chrome cast.
Method 2: Use Android to Install Kodi on Chromecast
For those who don’t have a computer available, you can even use your android mobile device to download Kodi on Chromecast. First, you’ll need a few things before we get started.

- LocalCast (an app use to cast for your mobile device) – other casting apps will work as well
- ES File Explorer (an app that allows users to sync Kodi to your Chromecast device)
- PlayerFactoryCore – an .xml file
Other great apps for android casting to Chromecast are AllConnect, BubbleUPnp, iMediaShare, Cast to Tv, Mirroring360, Google Home and Plex.
Once you have downloaded all of the required apps necessary you may move on to the casting process for Chromecast.
Step 1: Open and copy the PlayerFactoryCore.xml file.
Step 2: Find the Android Option. Then click on Data. From there open up the file titled org.xbmc.Kodi
Step 3: Once that is opened, go to all of your files. Then navigate and find the Kodi app. From there click on Userdata.
Step 4: Now paste the player factory core file that you copied in step 1 into the Userdata folder.
Step 5: Once that is completed you may now go launch Kodi on your phone. LocalCast will automatically launch when Kodi is started. A message will appear asking you which device you’d like to stream Kodi on. Simply choose Chromecast and Kodi will begin playing on the device.
Method 3: Using Chromecast App on your Android Phone
There is an easier method if you were confused by the method. Sometimes people get confused with the player factory core file and that could mess up the end result. With this method, you simply have to follow the directions laid out on the Chromecast app.
Step 1: Find the Chromecast app on your android mobile device. Then install the app.
Step 2: Open the Chromecast app. And open the menu.
Step 3: Tap on the Cast Screen/Audio option.
Step 4: A set of instructions will appear and you can follow the step-by-step instructions to install Kodi on Chromecast.
This method will take slightly longer, but it’s quite easy to follow for beginners. The last thing to note is to use a VPN while using Kodi. Having a secure virtual private network allows you to secure a connection from any location.
